Got my head in ...

C.V.Wedgewood's two volumes on The English Civil War found in Oxfam..well come on we can't buy yarn and books and guess which comes first . My mother is a little vague these days and when I phoned to ask if I had left my Bio. of Henrietta Maria at her house she said no.Then went on for two hours about Antonia Fraser's new one on Marie Antoinette..what did Oxfam have ? Yes the new book on Mrs Letthemeatcake.I don't see the connection , Mum probably does ..it's all heads isn't it .

Mmmm, I can see the link - Henrietta Maria, Marie Antoinette - they have sort of the same ring, don't they?

You obviously have a good Oxfam. I discovered years ago that one was more likely to find better books (and better clothes) in thrift stores in university towns and similarly upmarket places. My Gawd, the things you find in Oxford thrift shops...

Our Oxfam went all books which was a good idea. The craft section was good at first ,in fact I got a lot of good books but it's really bad now. I havn't yet come up with a good Kennedy book yet. I was furious last night reading about the supposed best physician who attended H.M at her last birth ( around no 11) .She wrote to the King to say she'd lost the feeling in one arm ,sight in one eye ,all her joints hurt and she was bent in a loop ..this "great" man said it was hysteria ( no wonder the root of the word). Silly woman making all that fuss what with the "excellent" pain-care and all. Just so typical a man , luckily The King seemed more sympathetic.
